School Health Visit

Today made my one & only school visit as a medical student to S.M.K Puteri, Seremban... Remember the days when we would be overjoyed to hear that class was cancelled bcos the nurses were coming for health checkups? Remember those days of brushing teeth by the drain, having our mouth inspected by dentists, hearing talks for smoking etc... and of course the vaccinations?

Well, today, part of our Fam Med posting, we joined the 'convoy' for tetanus immunization for Form3 students at that school. Basically this team goes around to inject tens of thousands of school children.

So we went with anticipation... We had learnt & practiced the various routes of injection. Only, our 'subjects' were plastic models...

Haha..."it feels good to inject somebody" one of the nurses said:) With anxiousness which we soon overcame with practice, it was indeed true!

Funniest was this:
Day before, our friends, including one 'Dr. RajenRao', went to the same school. We wonder what he actually did...
today, upon entering the 'klinik' the nurses found a note...It was a 'surat cinta'! From 2classes who wrote in to thank him for making the jabs less painful & from 'distracting' them from it. A P.S. note commented how cute he was...and ended with 'Lost of luv, hugz & kisses'!

LOL!
