Unlike internal med

After 2 postings in Seremban Clinical School - family medicine (which is the lepak one) and surgery (which was a fun and new experience for me) I finally reached the peak of all hard works - internal med!!!

But I had a well deserved one week break before I began.. and 2 weeks has passed.. i was really lost.. so much to study, and all the patients seem to have looonnnnggggg histories, which seem impossible to finish clerking in 30mins, which can easily be done in surgery. So time management was really a trick to master. Plus the CFCS, research..arrghh..deadline getting nearer...hmmm can see tension building up.

Then today went to hospital for case presentation with one Dato' Kew..a fantastic doctor and lecturer. Halfway thru she suddenly said "tommorow and Wednesday you all no need to come to the hospital..".

"Can this be true?"...we were always told to be in the wards, to spend as much time there as possible... this sounded so unlike our lecturers.

But she later explained that the hospital will be having the accredition day on those days. The administrators told IMU to shoo away their students..haha.. looks like we have to admit we are being a nuisance somehow:P

Actually being a medical student, learning in the wards and all... I see a lot of issues. Many times I totally feel grateful to the patients for giving us the opportunity to clerk and examine them.. not to mention asking them to be our test subjects for us to perform certain procedures like venepuncture, i.v. line and all... Ironically (and most likely because we did not intro ourselves properly), the patients will thank us again and again... I'll be wondering to myself..shouldn't it be totally opposite?
