human

Another day at the A&E when what appeared to be a homeless man was brought in. His clothes were filty, covered in dirt and he smelled of ammonia from so far away. His shirt was covered in dried blood and there were specks of dried blood all over his face. His moderate length hair was in bundles. He appeared stiff and his eyes were wide-opened. He had a spinal board beneath him with his thin mattress. He was quickly brought to the Red Zone.

a quick assessment was made while a brief history was taken from him. He is a 29year-old Indon, who claimed he was robbed and slashed on the head 2 days ago. His other 2 friends had died on the spot, while he was unconscious for a day. The one more day he waited till someone came...

Everyone wore a mask and did what they were supposed to do. As we were removing his clothes, an MA noticed maggots near the wounds!!! arrggghhh...

finally the time came for wound inspection... he was turned to his side so we could see the back of his head and neck. Oh my! a gapping wound transversed from the left to the right of his ear lobes and his vetebra could be seen! His head was basically attached to his neck by the bones and skin/muscles on the front only. Luckily his blood had clotted. It was a miracle how he survived and he was fully conscious and able to move all his limbs.

I wonder, if he had not been found, he would just have died, together with his friends, who have died in such an inhumane way. Slaughthered like animals and left to die and rot, to be eaten away by maggots and all (but this guy really had the will to survive). Really, some humans have the heart to threat another human this way. What difference will we be from God's other creations?
